Yesterday, I contributed greatly to society by being a “model” at a clinic for pregnant women in crisis. They were having a nurse training afternoon with a sonographer, and I volunteered my services as the perfect pregnant specimen a pregnant lady not in crisis. The nurses trained on using the sonogram machine, identifying strange baby parts, measuring fetal things, etc. And I just want to help in any way I can, you know? Just kidding. I mostly wanted to see my baby and find out the gender and if that helps others in the process, PERFECT. So while checking out the baby goods wasn’t at the forefront of their minds, it was definitely on mine.…
Amerrrrica, Amerrrrica
We went to the pediatrician the other day for our bi-weekly visit. (If you ever want to prepare for having small children, spend 80% of your time either being sick or taking care of sick people.) The doctor walked in the room, sat down, and started asking what was going on with Hutton. Doc: So he’s been sick. Ok. How high has his fever bee – wait – *studies her notes* Is this a typo or is that really how much he weighs?“ Me: Uh…yea. Almost 19 pounds? That’s how much he weighs. Doc: Wow. This is the weight they just took? Just a second ago? Me: Yes. Doc: Wow.…
Mom’s Day & Disappearing Presents
…join with me in pretending Mother’s Day wasn’t 8 days ago… Mom’s Day One of my favorite things about marriage is seeing my husband and my brother become friends. They are brother-in-laws, obviously, but they also like each other and are real life friends. And it’s awesome. (Especially since my brother scared off pretty much every boy who ever had interest in dating me, until Taylor came along. He instantly liked Taylor. That’s big time.) So, out of all of the fabulous events from Mother’s Day weekend, my favorite was the gunfight between Jared and Taylor. It all started with sweet Beckett and his little $1 squirt bottle, that he…
Easter Fun & Jade 2.0
(this post = a photo dump) Easter Fun? Easter: a time of celebration that Jesus rose from the grave and will one day make all things new. Such a glorious Sunday. Beckett was just as overcome with emotion as the rest of us. Yea, buddy. It is a big deal. It’s a HUGE deal. It’s the difference between life and death. Just let it all out. … Seriously though we had some really bad Easter festivities on Saturday. Friday and Sunday’s Easter events were splendid. Saturday? Awful. And it wasn’t just awful because the Christian radio station’s egg hunt was poorly executed and Beckett was almost trampled by the helicopter…
Roni the Chihuahua & Road Trip
Roni Tuesday morning, with 5 hours to pack and get the estate in order before Beckett and I left for our excursion across America, I found a collarless Chihuahua in our backyard. It might be helpful to know that: a) I do not love small dogs. Especially Chihuahuas. b) This is not the first Chihuahua that has gotten stuck in our backyard. (Which is odd now that I think about it.) I seriously didn’t have time to figure out where the dude came from, so I just set him in the front yard and went back inside. …less than 2 seconds later… I came back out, picked him up, and…
Alpacas & Swiffer
Did you read about Mercy Project last week? Go read it, if you haven’t. Important stuff, y’all. Alpacas Have you ever seen someone and thought, “You’re the kind of person who would kidnap me and wear my skin?” Our shuttle driver yesterday was that man and I was 99.9% sure he was going to kill me and dump Beckett. [Related: I may watch too many crime shows.] We met some friends at a big festival here and got to meet an alpaca named Benny. All in a Thursday’s work, y’all. (The festival is huge so parking is 1 mile away, hence the shuttle driver who makes and wears skin suits.…
Nashvegas, YAM, & Cheryl
Nashvegas Whew, it’s been a while since I’ve blogged. Oops. Taylor and I had somewhat of a sibling reunion this past weekend with his two sisters and brother-in-law in Nashville. It was quite possibly the funnest weekend we’ve had in a while. His middle sister and her husband are going to Chile in January, so we had a Labor Day festival at his oldest sisters’ house. We went to vineyards, ice cream shops, lounges, church, Mexican food…I recommend you look at my album on Facebook. I’m not gonna lie – we’re pretty fun. YAMs at The Hills A new ministry started at our church – the Young Adults Ministry (YAM!).…
