Traumatic Travel, Shopping Carts, & Time in Pokey

Whew. This past week or two was a doozy. A fun doozy, but a doozy nonetheless. We had 2 flights, 1 road trip, 1 wedding, 1 baby shower, 1 case of croup, and 1 ear infection. We’ll start with the slightly traumatic travel experience. Slightly Traumatic Travel Experience A few proclamations:  Proclamation #1: If you are the kind of person who takes up extra seats for your bags in the airport terminal leaving other travelers the option of sitting on the floor or standing, I’m sorry you’re such a lonely person. Surely that kind of behavior isn’t conducive for a happy life filled with friends and loved ones. Proclamation #2: Don’t be mean…

    Recap & Wreck Part II

Recap A small recap of the week’s events: Nephew: My nephew has a name! We are excited to meet baby Lincoln sometime in Mayish!!  Bugs: Those long-legged bugs with a 12 second lifespan are about to drive me insane. Our house has approximately 23 of them flying around at any given moment, and last night I woke up to one dive-bombing into my forehead. Die, you flying freaks. That is maybe too harsh. Let’s try: Fly back outside, you weirdo bugs.   Revelation: I really want to adopt a child(ren), right? So I had a dream last week of an adoption agency in Ghana that helped find families for the…

    Black Friday & Granny Mags

It’s good to be alive. We’ve had a very eventful week that had the potential to be the death of me. Beckett had his first flight (post to follow…sometime) and first road trip (6+ hours). My favorite event of the week, however, had to do with the craziness of Black Friday. Black Friday As mentioned in the post about buckshot/birdshot (or whatever kind of shot we try to find in our Thanksgiving food), we spent turkey day this year in the thriving metropolis of Pocahontas, Arkansas. We kept seeing the ads for the deals at Walmart starting Thursday night at 10, so my aunt, uncle, cousins, mom, brother, and myself…

Giant Feet, Micah 6:8, & The "C" Word

This might be an overly serious post. If you remember the lists of things I’m good and bad at, you’ll remember that I handle hard times/stress/problems with humor. It’s a blessing because laughter makes {most} everything better, and a curse on that rare occasion you bust out laughing at a funeral. About the funeral – it’s only happened once. In Memphis. At a very lively, southern funeral. I would feel terrible for laughing, but it was due to the lady behind me answering her phone in the middle of the service saying (in her best Bon Qui Qui voice), “Helllo? Helllo? Giiiirrrrlll I can’t herrr you. I’m at a furrrnrel.…

    JoJo, DIY, & Buckshot

It’s spooky scarf weather!! I know what you’re thinking. “I really thought she’d get less enjoyment out of dressing her dog once she had a child.” False. Still very entertaining to me. A dog in a scarf? That’s comedy in Sarah-land. JoJo JoJo (momma Sparks) came to visit this week. You know how a parent’s love is “unconditional”? That means their love for you will never run out – at least not until you have their grandchild, then you’re dead to them. That’s not fair to say. You’re not entirely dead to them, you just morph into strictly the car seat carrier and occasional baby-feeder. I kid, I kid. We…
