    Ordinary meets extraordinary.

Serious Tuesday post time. I’m not really sure why Tuesday, it just seems like a good day to be introspective. Last Serious Tuesday post, I wrote about why I wanted to adopt. In the post, I mentioned the blog, Kisses from Katie. A precious (and super hilarious) lady at church gave me a copy of Katie’s book a few weeks ago. I must confess how negligent of a parent I was the day I started reading it, because I absolutely could not put it down. Beckett got some quality bonding time in with his swing, bouncer, toys…pretty much anything to keep him occupied while momma read her book. It’s an…

    Facial Mask, Solids, & Movin’

Hey. Tomorrow is a Serious Tuesday post, so come back. It’s a good one if you ask me (the author). Facial Masks Why, yes, my pores are extra clean. Thanks for noticing. You may wonder what mask I used to create such a youthful appearance. Let me just tell you… I was watching my favorite daytime talk show the other day (judge me if you must) where a beauty expert was sharing do-it-yourself home beauty tips. One such tip was to apply glue (Elmer’s or the equivalent) to your face, let it dry, peel it off, and voila! perfectly clean pores. Since I had a few minutes to myself with…

    PTSD & Characters

Post-Traumatic…   How did I end up with an incredibly easy baby and a super high-maintenance dog? I mean, really. Come on. Mack has started doing this really cool thing where he sneaks off to a quiet corner of the house to tremble. I find him under the kitchen table, behind the rocker in the nursery, or on our bed. Just sitting there. Shaking uncontrollably. Something horrifying probably happened that day to freak him out, like my cooking on the stove, turning the bath water on, or dropping something on the tile floor. These may seem like normal, every day occurrences to you, but to my 70 pound lab they…

    Annoying Spouses & {Current} Favs

Let first me mention a text I sent this week: (blue = me) My lack of real exercise is astounding. Annoying Spouses A cyberfriend of mine (I claim her, regardless of if she claims me) recently blogged about things she does to annoy her husband. I knew I had to blog about it too, because I love annoying Taylor. It’s kind of a twisted hobby. My top 5 current ways to annoy him: 1. Scare him. Holy moly this is funny. I’m admittedly unfair in this, because I’m the only one who is allowed to scare the other. He scared me once while I was showering and I silently wept…

That Awkward Moment When’s & Throwbacks

That Awkward Moment When… I think the “that awkward moment when” craze is about over, so I’d like to wish it out with some recent endings to the sentence.   That awkward moment when you accidentally cut someone off in traffic, then turn into the same parking lot.  An important decision follows: drive another lap to avoid confrontation, follow them to their parking spot to apologize, or walk with your head high pretending nothing happened. One time in high school when I was trying to be super awesome but really was just being a punk, I flipped a guy off while I was driving. Turns out he was headed to the…

    Southwest, Baby Socks, & Photoshoots

Ahh, Christmas. You were good to us this year. It’s too bad you didn’t stay around for very long. Some noteworthiness first:1. It’s my anniversary. I can honestly say I didn’t know the depth of Taylor’s greatness when I married him (that sounds weird), but the past 3 years have made me incredibly grateful for my best friend/husband/dad of B. So a happy big one to us.2. Beckett is having a BOY COUSIN! We’re very excited. (You can follow Taylor’s sister and brother-in-law’s missions in Chile, as well as read up on the babe when he debuts here.) Continuing on. We spent Christmas Eve with Taylor’s family and Christmas day…
